everything you ever wanted to know about wedding photography

Planning a wedding isn't easy! You're practically creating a huge 100+ people sized event in your spare time. When you say it aloud it actually sounds crazy! If you're not employing the help of a wedding planner, which I highly recommend, use some of the resources below to help make your task a little bit easier. I created these resources with you in mind so please read, comment, and share to your hearts content! If you'd like me to write about a particular topic, message me here.

Most of the couples I work with go to New Orleans or bigger cities to find their dream wedding dress, however, most people don’t know there are a few boutiques nearby that are worth checking out.  If you have a very specific designer or style in mind it may be harder to find a dress that matches your vision locally but if you’re open to different designers and styles then local is the way to go!  Check out these three Baton Rouge bridal boutiques:

  1. I Do Bridal Couture

Voted one of the top 50 wedding boutiques in America by BRIDES magazine.  They offer couture wedding dresses and bridal accessories creating a tailored experience for brides to be.
They are located at 4265 Perkins Road, Baton Rouge, Louisiana and open Tuesday – Saturday.

  2. Blush Bridal Boutique

This shop is run by 3 local sisters who opened their doors in 2011.  With one of the largest plus size wedding dress collections in Baton Rouge, they have become extremely popular.
They are located at 3937 Perkins Road, Baton Rouge, Louisiana and open Monday – Saturday.

  3. Bustle Bridal Gowns and Accessories

Bustle has been around since 2007 and offers a beautiful array of wedding gowns.  Most dresses fall within the 1,000 – 3,000 range have been hand-picked in sizes 0-34.
They are located at 14241 Airline Hwy Suite 107, Baton Rouge, Louisiana and open Monday – Saturday.

Bridal Boutiques in Baton Rouge

Baton Rouge

We’re getting so close to engagement season and I’m so excited!  Here are my top locations for an engagement session in Baton Rouge.  Just keep in mind a couple of these may require some additional planning and/or permits so make sure you research what’s required ahead of time. If you’d like more unique suggestions.  Just let me know!  I love providing my clients with my top-secret spots in and around Baton Rouge.

  1. LSU Rural Life Museum

This is probably the most popular Baton Rouge engagement session location. When I first moved here it was recommended to me by a bunch of people.  It’s easy to see why!  There are so many beautiful live oak trees and great little spots for photos.  To this day it remains one of my favorites!

  2. LSU Windrush Gardens

The Windrush Gardens are attached to the Rural Life Museum so it makes shooting at both of these locations in one day super easy!  These gardens can be so beautiful depending on the time of year.  It’s really a perfect place for an engagement session!

  3. Downtown Baton Rouge

If you like more an industrial look then downtown Baton Rouge is the way to go!  With large buildings and a clean neutral palette, you can’t go wrong with a sophisticated session downtown.

  4. Nottoway Plantation

This plantation is so beautiful and is just perfect for an engagement session!  It’s a little bit of a drive but well worth it.  If you get the chance to go, make sure you don’t make this a casual affair.  Dress up and really play on the plantation’s glamour.

  5. Houmas House

This place has everything from a cute little tree swing to gardens, and beautiful live oak trees.  There are so many photo opportunities here that you can complete an entire session in more at this one location.  Not to mention the staff are great!
