When I arrived in New Orleans for Brittany and Nick’s wedding, we were surrounded by the chaos of Mardi Gras parades.  You could hear the beating of drums and shouting right outside the hotel rooms at the Astor Crown Plaza on Canal St..  What a day to have a wedding!  There was a ton of great energy that definitely influenced the rest of the day.   After Brittany and Nick were done getting ready it was time for the first look.  Having shot their engagement session and gotten to know them on a personal level, I knew emotions would be running high.  As soon as Nick turned around he was overcome with excitement and love.  His expression gave away all of his feelings.  It was such a beautiful and personal moment and I couldn’t have asked for anything better for these two.

As we made our way to Southern Oaks Plantation for the ceremony, the rain started.  Now, if you know anything about Louisiana you know there is practically a 50/50 chance it will rain on any given day.  Even if it’s just for a minute or two.  Well, that night it poured!  I’m so thankful for Southern Oaks making it an EASY transition from an outdoor ceremony to an indoor ceremony.  They literally had everything done in what felt like the blink of an eye. Brittany and Nick handled the change of weather with grace.  I don’t think anything could have changed how happy they were to tie the knot that night!

Just as quickly as the ceremony had been moved indoors, it became a reception with a live band and guests ready to party.  We wrapped up photos and got to dancing!  There was even a Cafe Du Monde food truck outside with their famous coffee and beignets for guests who wanted a taste of New Orleans tradition.  It was a stunning night with a fairytale ending.  Brittany and Nick made their exit in a horse-drawn carriage under the colorful glow of fireworks.  I still can’t believe it was all real!
