The day started off at the Watermark Hotel in downtown Baton Rouge. The Watermark is such a beautiful place for getting ready. They have so many amenities and large windows with beautiful natural light. Catherine and her bridesmaids spent the morning listening to music and getting ready for the big day ahead. After receiving a letter from her husband-to-be, Josh, the girls decided it was time to pop the champagne! I always love the look on everyone’s faces when it comes time to open a champagne bottle. No one ever knows where with cork will go and the anticipation makes for great photos. I’m always afraid it’s going to come right at my camera but so far, it’s never happened.
Before we knew it, it was time to head to St. Joseph’s Cathedral for the first look. On our way there we could see the rain clouds really starting to darken and the wind starting to pick up. I’ve learned that this is pretty much how you can tell how many minutes you have until it starts raining in south Louisiana. It started sprinkling and we knew we only had a few minutes to pull this off. Once everyone was ready, we had the most beautiful first look! Catherine came out of those iconic red doors and Josh turned to see how beautiful she looked in her gown. This sweet moment with just the two of them was so perfect! It couldn’t have gone any better.
After a traditional Catholic mass, it was time to head to the reception at Ruffino’s Catering. The dancefloor was already filled with guests by the time we got there. Josh and Catherine made their entrance and had their first dance. Before we knew it the guests had overtaken the dance floor and the rest of the night was history! It was such a fun day with these two. Scroll to see more!
